The 6 most common cleaning mistakes - did you do the same?

I constantly make 6 common mistakes in cleaning - it became clear when I was hired by a cleaning agency. And no wonder: then I was young and, as they say, not spoiled by experience. At school, during labor lessons, we were forced to embroider and plan sandwiches, but we never talked about how to put things in order. Parents always did not have enough time for sincere conversations about how to wipe mirrors and clean the floor. The popular “Book for Girls” talked about anything - curling eyelashes, choosing handbags for a dress, and even eating an orange with a knife and fork, but not about how to keep it clean. In general, I had to learn the basics of cleaning on my own - listening to my intuition and looking at how others do it.

Having become a servant of the cult of purity, who not only waved a broom and a mop, but also learned their professional secrets from more experienced colleagues, I eventually realized all the mistakes and even now, many years later, I try to avoid them with all my might.

1. Unsystematic

Almost everyone who does the cleaning sins this. Instead of choosing a “starting point” and moving from it in one direction (for example, counterclockwise), a person rushes around the apartment in search of the most dirty places. First he wipes the dust on the windowsill in the bedroom, then he washes the oven in the kitchen, cleans the tiles in the bathroom, sweeps the cobwebs from the ceiling in the hallway, removes the curtains in the living room and goes to wash them, mopping the floors in the nursery ... As a result, a lot of time was spent, and it’s difficult to notice the result . If cleaning took place in one room (for example, in the kitchen) and had a certain system, much more work could be done.

By the way, first you need to tidy the upper tier - to clean the curtains, get rid of dust on the cabinets, wipe the chandeliers - and only then do another circle around the room, this time paying attention to the lower tier. This is due to the law of gravity - the dirt falls down, and if the floor is first vacuumed, it will again be covered with a layer of garbage.

2. Hurry

In an attempt to save time, people make many oversights that reduce all efforts to nothing:

  • do not thoroughly vacuum the carpets, leaving a lot of dirt inside;
  • they wash away chemicals that are designed to remove stains from the upholstery of the sofa or to clean the surface of the sink before they have time to act (if the instructions say that 15 minutes should pass, you need to wait exactly so much);
  • ignoring upholstered furniture, although it accumulates a lot of dust and it needs regular cleaning with a vacuum cleaner. In the absence of this device, you can knock out sofas and chairs, previously covering them with a wet cloth.

The better the cleaning will be done, the longer the cleanliness will be maintained.

3. Postponement for later

The hope of chance and the fact that the work will do itself, makes many postpone things until later. Instead of washing the dishes after breakfast, the housewives and owners plan to do this in the evening. Clean linen can lie in a secluded corner until it is needed - and after all it was worth ironing and spreading it in the cabinets on the same day when it has dried. The jam that has dripped on the table is waiting for the general cleaning on Saturday, despite the fact that sticky marks are much easier to wipe off immediately.

That’s how tasks accumulate - the list grows every hour, every day, gradually becoming endless.Cleaning will be much easier and more fun if you devote at least 15 minutes to it every day.

4. Improper maintenance of various surfaces.

Who would not want to buy one bottle of detergent and use it for all domestic needs? However, truly universal gels and powders have not yet been invented. Depending on the material of which this or that surface is made, appropriate cleaners should be used. Also, do not forget about additional care.

In home storage should always be stored:

  • Furniture polish - it not only removes fingerprints and other traces from wooden countertops and cabinets, but also prevents dust from settling.
  • Wax for parquet - helps to preserve the appearance of the flooring and does not allow it to get dirty actively.
  • Means that prevent cooking stove contamination - they create a film that is washed off with drops of fat and pieces of food.

By the way, furniture made of MDF can not be washed with water, since stains remain from this. If necessary, rub it with polish or a woolen cloth.

Dust under the sofa

5. surface

It is not easy to make a quality cleaning, but you can create the appearance of cleanliness in 5 minutes. To do this, it is enough to clean only where the eye falls at the entrance to the room. For example, wipe the dust from the coffee table, but leave it on the windowsill (you still can’t see it behind the curtains), push the scattered things under the bed, instead of putting them in their places, vacuum the carpet and forget about the dirt accumulated in the corners. Unfortunately, this method is absolutely not justified. Sooner or later it will be necessary to clean the dirt in all hard-to-reach places, however, it will be much more difficult to do this, and the time spent on cleaning will increase many times over.

Kitchen Cleaning Items

6. Wrong time

This error is relevant when washing windows. If you do this work during the day, when the bright sun is shining, it is difficult to notice the stains on the glass, so it is advisable to wait until the evening or start cleaning at dawn.

The occurrence of divorce is facilitated by incorrect movements. Most people drive with a napkin in a circle, simply “smearing the dirt”, although the result will be much better if you wash the glass only from top to bottom.

I hope that you will never repeat these 6 common mistakes when cleaning your home and save your nerves, health and time for more enjoyable activities. And perhaps you have your own secrets to clean up? Share them in the comments, because the experience of each person is priceless and definitely useful to someone.

    Each room has a specific day of the week; cleaning takes about 20-30 minutes.
