How to clean your bathroom at home and remove mold permanently?

Each of us had to deal with this omnipresent, indestructible mold, which has a specific, easily recognizable unpleasant odor. Many people do not know how to get rid of the fungus in the bathroom for a long time, so that suddenly one day they will not see again the hated black mold in the seams between the tiles. After all, as with ordinary mushrooms, the root system of the mold branches in different directions, penetrating into the wall on which it settled, and releasing new colonies. If at least one of its spores goes unnoticed in the depths of the seams, a whole network of molds will again develop from it.

Where does black mold come from? Its spores are carried by the wind and spread through the air. You can bring them home on your clothes. Once in favorable conditions for them, they instantly begin to develop. And the main conditions for their life are air humidity above 70% and temperature not lower than + 15 ° C. It is this atmosphere that is usually present in the bathroom.

In addition to the fact that the mold completely crosses out the stylistic integrity of the interior, giving the tile in your bathroom an untidy and unpresentable appearance, its spores, spreading through the air, penetrate the lungs, causing various diseases. They pose a special danger to those who suffer from allergies, and are able to provoke this disease in healthy people. The most toxic is the black form of mold, which, settling in the body, attacks its healthy cells, which can lead to serious consequences.

Mold in the bathroom

How to act?

How to clean mold in the bathroom? The only effective anti-mold method is to dismantle the tiles and completely remove the plaster on the affected wall. In this case, you need to capture the area about half a meter more than the visible area of damage. And since disinfectants are toxic not only to the fungus, but also to humans, take precautions before cleaning. If the room has a window, it is better to open it. All work must be done with rubber gloves, a respiratory mask and safety glasses. For processing you will need:

  • the disinfectant solution itself;
  • ordinary detergent;
  • stiff bristle brush;
  • sponges.

If the part of the wall where the mold has settled is small and you do not want to deal with it in radical ways, try treating the joints with an antiseptic without removing the tile. To do this, follow a simple instruction.

  1. Remove mechanically visible parts of the fungus with a brush and detergent. Wipe the seams between the tiles especially carefully.
  2. Apply the remedy for the fungus to the affected area.
  3. After 15-20 minutes, you need to wash the treated area.
  4. Dry the treated surface thoroughly with a building hair dryer.

However, no one will give you a guarantee that after a while the spores of the fungus, settled deep in the seams, will not arise from nonexistence.

From the point of view of safety for people with respiratory diseases suffering from asthma or allergies, this is an ideal antiseptic at home. As for their effectiveness, you have to make sure of this, since we do not have any reliable information about this, tested in practice.
