How to clean plastic dishes to get rid of bad smell?

Even regular and proper cleaning of plastic containers will not protect the product from the appearance of unpleasant odors inside the containers. Housewives who do not know how to get rid of the smell in plastic dishes simply replace it with a new one, believing that specific notes indicate damage to the material.

In fact, this is not connected with the quality of the product, just such is the specificity of plastic dishes. Fortunately, there are many methods with which you can quickly and permanently remove unpleasant notes. Regardless of the method, the first step is always the same - the dishes must be thoroughly washed with hot water without the use of detergents.

The most effective anti-odor ingredients

It is worth considering that attempts to get rid of an unpleasant odor with the help of aromatic dishwashing gel will not lead to anything. These products are designed in such a way that they are completely washed off the surface of the products together with a pleasant aroma. It is better to try one of the following:

• Newspaper sheet. We take an ordinary newspaper without a variety of laminated coatings, crush it and put it in a plastic dish. We press well, but leave some free space. We close the container with a lid and leave it for several hours, or even better at night. This simple approach allows you to completely remove the smell.

Tip: Not the best result will be given by attempts to process the problematic plastic container in the dishwasher. Practice shows that such experiments, on the contrary, fix a specific smell and even make it stronger.

• Coffee beans. This is a wonderful absorbent of unpleasant aromas, which can refresh even a whole refrigerator, let alone a small container. To remove the smell, you just need to pour the grains into the container and close. After a few hours, you can check the result. Ground coffee is best used in the form of sleeping ground. A soluble product will not give the desired result.
• Lemon. The odor of stagnant plastic will help get rid of fragrant lemon. The dishes just need to be washed with lemon juice or even rubbed on the inside with the skin of the product and left to air for several hours.
• Baking soda. Another effective and affordable absorbent. The product is diluted in a small amount of water. We process the walls of the container with the resulting paste and leave for a day. After the specified time, rinse the product, dry it and only after that we evaluate the result. If necessary, repeat the manipulation.

• Charcoal. Just put a piece of the product into the container, close it tightly and check the quality of exposure after a few hours.
• Vinegar. Before you get rid of the smell with this tool, it is worth trying the approaches listed earlier. It happens that plastic reacts to vinegar in the most unexpected way. Take a quarter cup of table vinegar in a glass of water, you can add a few drops of dishwashing gel to the mass. Pour the solution into a container, close the lid, shake it strongly and leave for several hours. Rinse the cleaned container several times with clean cold water.

• Vanillin. A little unexpected, but very effective tool. Pour hot water into the “with a reserve” container, into which we add a pinch of vanillin (not vanilla sugar!). Close the container, shake and leave for several hours. After this, it remains only to rinse the product.

In some cases, the problem can be dealt with without the use of improvised means. We just leave clean containers open in the sun for several hours.
