How to quickly and easily whiten a bath at home?

Sooner or later, every housewife has to face a difficult domestic question: how to whiten a bathroom at home? The view of the sparkling novelty of snow-white plumbing in the bathroom is certainly very pleasant, instantly refreshes the design of the room and gives it almost a festive look. However, this whiteness, unfortunately, is so short-lived! After some time, we notice that the inner coating of the bathtub has acquired a suspicious grayish or yellow hue and every scratch has become visible on it, and in some places rusty spots bloomed. All this definitely means that the time has come for general cleaning using powerful economic artillery.

Dirty bath after rusty water

“How does it get dirty at all, do they wash themselves in it all the time ?!”

For the vast majority of people, daily care of the bathroom means "do not forget to rinse after yourself after a shower or washing." If the water flowing from the tap were perfectly clean, this could, in principle, be enough - but in fact it is this that is the main factor in the pollution of the bath. You probably noticed that yellow plaque and rust in the bathtub are especially readily and quickly formed if the water stagnates in a puddle at the bottom or there are leaks in the mixer.

To ensure that cold water complies with drinking standards, the utilities responsible for its supply mercilessly disinfect it, killing bacteria, and at the same time its chemical composition becomes much more aggressive than H2O. And the composition of hot water, which is not originally intended for drinking and is essentially technical, is completely out of the question. In addition, before pouring from your tap, the water overcomes tens of kilometers of not the newest pipes, the inner walls of which do not have perfect purity. As a result, the question of how to make the bathtub snow-white and clean the plaque arises before the mistresses again and again.

So how can you clean a bath before home at home?

There are many ways to whiten a bath at home, and the choice of the most suitable for you depends on two factors: the degree of contamination of the plumbing and the material from which the bath is made.

The most common materials in the affordable price range of which bathtubs are made today are steel, cast iron and acrylic. The enamel coating of metal tanks can withstand a fairly serious attack - both chemical and mechanical, although it’s not worth it to be too zealous. But acrylic is very easy to scratch and therefore does not tolerate abrasive cleaning, so powders and brushing are not suitable for it - to clean the acrylic bath, it should be treated only with a soft rag or sponge, while the plaque remover must have the consistency of a homogeneous paste or gel.

Funds from the store

A metal bath can be cleaned with almost any household cleaning product found in the nearest hardware store. Surely among them will be Domestos, Cillit, Comet, Cif, Sanox and other popular brands, each of which can clean the surface and ensure its high-quality whitening.
The techniques for working with all of these powders, gels and sprays are the same:

  • apply funds strictly according to the instructions with which they are equipped;
  • Do not overexpose on the surface of the bath;
  • wipe the enamel without pressing it to avoid mechanical damage;
  • do not use too often (more than once a week);
  • Do not rinse with hot water - only warm or cold, so as not to get chemical burns from rising steam;
  • be sure to wear rubber gloves before work, it is advisable to also take care of protecting the eyes and lungs.

It is recommended not to bring the matter to really severe pollution - it is much easier to wash off a light yellow or gray coating, although in this case, of course, you will have to do this job more often.

To clean the acrylic bath from yellowness, you should use special tools with the appropriate mark. In the mass market segment, suitable products are produced, for example, under the brands of "Sun Wedge", Triton, RAVAK.

Folk Home Remedies

I am pleased to share with you a very simple way to clean the bath before I leave the apartment. It will help funds that are likely to be in the arsenal of any housewife familiar with the basics of baking and preserving products. To save plumbing from pollution, you can use soda, vinegar or citric acid.

The easiest way is to try to clean the enamel coating with ordinary baking soda. It quite satisfactorily copes with minor impurities - you need to put the pulp from soda on a damp surface with a sponge, and after half an hour or an hour carefully wash it off.

You can’t take more resistant stains, which have gotten into the enamel and a strong coating with baking soda alone — you need a mixture of it with soda ash. Combining these substances in a one to one proportion, you need to apply the resulting composition to enamel, soak for half an hour, wipe with a sponge moistened with table vinegar, and rinse thoroughly with water for another half hour.

Vinegar, however, can quite effectively remove rust and yellow deposits, even if it is not mixed with soda, especially when washing and bleaching requires cast-iron plumbing. It is necessary to impregnate paper towels with liquid, lay out a bathtub with them and leave for 3-5 hours, after which remove everything and wash the surface. Citric acid acts faster - two bags per half liter of water are capable of clean the bath in just 25 minutes.

Tip

If you need to process the acrylic bath with the listed means, they should be approximately half as concentrated, or the contact time of the agent with the surface should be reduced.

As we can see, home remedies are quite capable of solving the problem of how to clean a white bath, and at the same time they are affordable and relatively safe for a housewife compared to industrial ones.
