Ceiling Care Rules

The ceilings are cleaned as they become soiled. Most often this will need to be done in the following rooms.

  • Kitchen. It is clear that cooking oil and soot, even with a good extract above the stove, will still settle on the ceiling.
  • Bathroom. There is no heavy pollution in the bathrooms, but if there is poor ventilation, condensation will constantly settle on the ceiling. Drying, drops leave stains and traces on the coating.
  • Loggias and balconies. Stretch ceilings do not accumulate dust, they also have antistatic properties, which to some extent protect the surface from pollution. But over time, even the highest quality coating will show up settled street dirt, especially if your area cannot be called environmentally friendly.

In general, the rules for caring for dull stretch ceilings come down to a series of recommendations on what should not be done when washing and cleaning the PVC surface.

Hard brush with water tank

Hard brushes for washing stretch ceilings cannot be used

What can not be done?

But here's what you should not do if you decide to wash the matte stretch ceiling:

  • use hot water - the water temperature should not exceed 40 ° C;
  • use abrasive detergents and materials;
  • wash the ceiling with acetone-based products - it dissolves the PVC film;
  • use hard or sharp objects for cleaning, hard brushes;
  • resort to the help of a mop - the risk of damage to the tension coating in this case is quite high;
  • use only authorized detergents;
  • Do not use the stain remover without first testing it in a small area of the film that is hidden from the eyes.

Dry cleaning stretch ceiling

Dry cleaning

The dry cleaning method will help to refresh a slightly dusty ceiling. In this case, use a soft, lint-free cloth to care for the coating. It can be microfiber, a suede cloth or a special non-woven cloth with an electrostatic effect. Such wipes are used to remove dust from polished surfaces - they attract dirt to themselves and do not leave stains.

In a circular motion, brush away the dust from the coating. If you saw a web in the corners, it is not necessary to clean the entire ceiling. It is enough to remove the pollution with a soft scrub brush without touching the film itself.

For dry cleaning, you can use a vacuum cleaner. You will need a special nozzle made of fabric, but even then you should not touch the surface of the stretch ceiling so as not to damage the structure. Keep the nozzle a few centimeters from the surface so that dust can be removed but not damage the ceiling.

Detergent for suspended ceilings

Detergents

If you have firmly decided that wet cleaning is indispensable, then first choose a good care product.Professionals recommend using special detergents for suspended ceilings. They are released in the form of aerosols or sprays.

You can take care of the film coating using other household cleaning products.

  • In rooms where the main pollutant is fat, you can use a dishwashing liquid, washing powder or gel, and even ordinary soapy water. Dilute the product in water so that no solid particles remain, and feel free to proceed with washing.
  • In other situations, use a glass cleaner containing ammonia to clean the coating. They perfectly clean from dust, small grease and do not leave streaks. You can prepare the solution yourself from the pharmaceutical ammonia: approximately 50 ml of ammonia is consumed per 1 liter of water.

Tip

If you are not sure about the detergent, then do a simple test. Apply a working solution to a small area of PVC film, wait 10-15 minutes, then rinse with water. If the film is not damaged - this tool can be used to care for the coating.

Sponge for washing

Necessary tools

To wash the stretch ceiling, you will need:

  • ladder;
  • bucket;
  • detergent solution;
  • plastic bottle with a spray (if the product is not aerosol);
  • sponge or rag.

As already mentioned, the sponge should not be abrasive, and it is better to use soft and non-woven rags - microfiber, suede, special napkins.

With a great desire, you can use a mop with a fabric nozzle to wash the ceiling, but you must be sure of the strength of the film structure. It’s better not to risk it and wash the surface with your hands.

First, walk along the ceiling with a dry rag, removing the top layer of dust. Then proceed directly to the washing process:

  • dilute the detergent in water with a temperature of 30-40 ° C;
  • moisten the sponge in the solution;
  • if you use a spray to care for stretch ceilings, then moisten the sponge in plain water;
  • spray the spray onto the surface;
  • in a circular motion, clean the film without pressing hard on the ceiling;
  • if you use detergent solutions, rinse them with plain water so as not to leave streaks;
  • after washing, go over the stretch ceiling with a dry cloth.

It is somewhat easier to wash opaque stretch ceilings than glossy ones - as a rule, there are no stains on them even after applying detergent solutions.

Now you know how to wash the matte stretch ceiling. Use special care products for PVC film and do not use mechanical force. To avoid stains, wipe the film with a dry cloth at the end of work.
