How and how can I quickly clean the silicone mold after baking?

With the advent of special silicone molds, the baking process has become noticeably simpler and more enjoyable. However, if you do not know how to wash the silicone mold after use, you can quickly spoil the product or negatively affect the taste of dishes. Even before acquiring practical devices, you should familiarize yourself with the basic rules for caring for the material. Despite the fact that this raw material perfectly tolerates high temperatures and seems completely immune to external influences, there are a number of limitations when working with forms that should not be forgotten.

Features of the operation of silicone molds

Soft and elastic items for baking are easily removed from the finished product, the dough does not stick to them, dirt easily leaves under the influence of warm water. But these characteristics will remain relevant only as long as household appliances receive appropriate care.

So that once you do not have to wipe off traces of burnt oil from a surface that has become porous and unstable, you must always observe the following rules:

  1. Before using the product, wash it in warm water with the addition of detergent and dry it. After this form, wipe dry and lubricate with a thin layer of vegetable oil. With further use, it is no longer necessary to lubricate the inside of the products! If you ignore this rule, the material will gradually be covered with a coating of burnt oil.
  2. Caustic detergents are not allowed. They can lead to the melting of raw materials and damage to products. During subsequent operation, such forms will spoil the taste of baking and its appearance.
  3. Silicone actively attracts static electricity, so it quickly becomes dusty even when stored in cases. Before each use of the forms, they must be washed with warm water and dried.
  4. To thoroughly clean the product, it is necessary to process it from the outside, unscrew it and process it again. Only in this way will it be possible to clean out the remains of products from all secluded corners.
  5. Silicone can only be washed after it has completely cooled. It is extremely undesirable to delay cleaning. The longer traces of berries, fruits, sugar and butter remain on the product, the higher the likelihood that they will be fixed there very reliably and will create problems with cleaning.

If you follow these rules, then silicone molds do not have to be regularly cleaned from grease, plaque or specific brown spots. At the same time, the products will not give away specific rubber notes or burnt oil.

If, as a result of improper use of the products, they became heavily contaminated, then after removing the baked goods, you can try to solve the problem in one of the following ways:

  • First, drip detergent on the sponge and begin to process the contaminated surface. The more water and foam, the better. If the dense coating does not want to leave, then soak the molds in the foamed washing solution for several minutes and repeat the manipulation.
  • If during preparation of baking ingredients with a pungent odor were used, then a weak vinegar solution can be used to eliminate it. Soak the fixtures in the prepared liquid, in my traditional way and dry.

Tip: For the preparation of berry desserts, it is better to immediately acquire forms of dark silicone. Traces of berry juice quickly penetrate the porous texture of the material and it is almost impossible to clean it.On the other hand, if they do not cause any inconvenience, you can continue to use devices, traces of juice over time will become lighter.

  • Melted or burnt drops from dough, fat or sauce should be rubbed with a soft damp cloth with a small amount of baking soda. Other abrasives, especially those of an acidic nature, are best avoided; they may impair the integrity of the silicone coating.

It is strictly forbidden to wipe stains from the surface of the molds with nails, knives and other sharp objects. Do not use wire washcloths and dense sides of household sponges.

Professional pastes, abrasives and solvents are also prohibited. Do not experiment with preparations intended for cleaning the oven, stove or sink. They not only harm the quality of the molds and affect the taste of the dishes made, but can also cause food poisoning.

If the spots are so ingrained on the surface of the material that they interfere too much with the cooking process, it is better to purchase new appliances and see to it that they are properly maintained.
