How to make a marble effect on Easter eggs

Once, in my childhood, before Easter, Grandmother-craftswoman taught me how to paint eggs in a very unusual way. The pattern on the shell favorably with the traditional "onion" dyes and resembled marble. Stains, swirls, smooth or, conversely, sharp color transitions were fascinating. It seemed that it was simply impossible to create such a masterpiece with one's own hands without the skills of art painting. But no - like all ingenious, the process of creating a "marble" painted testicle turned out to be quite simple.

And today we paint eggs for Easter ourselves. To all my friends I recommend this interesting recipe, which is quite budget and environmentally friendly - marble eggs, for all their originality, do not require the use of industrial dyes.

Everything you need for painting marble eggs

Master Class

We will need:

  • onion peel;
  • raw eggs, preferably white - 10 pieces;
  • salt - 1 tablespoon;
  • water;
  • gauze cut;
  • scissors;
  • threads
  • pan.

Painting process step by step:

  • Step 1. Gauze must be cut into square flaps according to the number of eggs. The size of the squares is approximately 15x15 cm.
  • Step 2 Grind the husks of onions. To do this, you can put it in a cup and chop it randomly. The finer the substance, the more convincing the picture will be. The ideal size of the slices is 0.5-0.7 cm.
  • Step 3 Eggs should be removed from the refrigerator in advance so that they are “used” to room temperature (otherwise the shell may crack during cooking). Moisten them with water and roll in chopped husk as carefully as possible. Put on pieces of gauze.
  • Eggs in small pieces of onion peel

  • Step 4 Wrap each egg in a gauze section and tie the edges to make bags. Trim excess tips.
  • Step 5 Put the bags in the pan. Next, pour cold water so that it covers the eggs a little. The smaller it is, the brighter the picture will be. Add salt and remaining onion peel. Bring to a boil and then cook for 35–40 minutes.

Making Marble Eggs in Onion Hulls

Onion broth will give a very persistent stain, which is difficult to remove, so it is better to take a pan that you do not mind spoiling. By the way, an enameled pan will be washed much more difficult than her "friend" from stainless steel.

  • Step 6 Drain the water. Cool the eggs by rinsing them with water until the paint stops draining. Put on gloves, unfold the puppies. Rinse each egg again and wipe it with vegetable oil. After a while it is absorbed into the shell and will not get your hands dirty. This shine will remain. Unique in its originality and uniqueness, the symbols of a bright holiday are ready!

    This recipe is not only simple, but also safe, so my daughters are happy to participate in the creative process, getting to know Easter traditions.

    Secrets of Mastery

    Given the following nuances, the color of the eggs will be brighter and more saturated:

    • Onion husks of different colors - from yellow to brown - give a deeper coloring of eggs.
    • For added effect, you can add paper trim to the onion mix. To do this, a white sheet should be cut into arbitrary pieces and mixed with onion husks. In this substance, it is also necessary to roll off future paints.
    • If you replace onion slicing with rice, the picture will turn out with specks (see photo).
    • Previously, you can wipe the eggs with vinegar, which will allow the color to become more persistent and saturated.

    Variations on a Theme

    Effective staining can also be obtained through the use of nail polish. The creation process is also quite simple:

    1. Boil eggs. Cool.
    2. Pour water into a cup, drip nail polish of different colors. Dripping should be taken in turn to the center of the previous varnish stain.
    3. To draw improvised patterns on the varnish stains with a toothpick.
    4. Put on latex gloves and carefully lower the egg into a bowl so that the varnish stains “stick” to the shell.
    5. Dry the puppies.

    Another way to create marbled eggs is to add vegetable oil to a food coloring. To do this, do the following:

    1. Boil hard boiled eggs. Dilute the industrial dye in water according to the instructions.
    2. Add half a tablespoon of vegetable oil.
    3. Stir the solution thoroughly.
    4. Dip each egg into the dye one by one. Oil stains will protect the shell from staining in individual places, thereby creating the effect of artistic marble stains.
    5. Dry the puppies.
