A little bit about production

Whether prunes need to be washed depends on how they were dried. If this is a reputable, well-established factory, then fresh berries are first washed on it, and then sent to closed drying units. And after the snacks are packed in closed containers that protect the dessert from dust, insects and the hands of loaders, sellers and curious buyers. Often such prunes are already pitted and soft - you can eat them right away.

A completely different issue is prunes, hastily scattered in bags or trays. No information about the manufacturer - accordingly, no guarantees. It is quite possible that nobody washed the berries, but even from the garden hose, they did not rinse them right on the trees. Such dried fruits have to be washed. And here a problem arises - how ??

Life hack
If the rush is big - you can quit any, even moderately dirty dried fruit, to boil like that. But the compote will have to be boiled for at least 15 minutes, and after that - strain through two layers of gauze, otherwise, although it will be disinfected, the “trash” will fall into the drink.

How to wash dried fruits

Since prunes and dried apricots wrinkle strongly after drying, trying to wash them with running water is useless and even dangerous: ricochet drops will spread dirt and intestinal infection everywhere (soft berries should be especially suspicious: their moisture is a shelter for all kinds of bacteria).

  2. Boil water in a convenient way.
  3. Pour the berries and leave for a few minutes.

Of course wash! I collected a parcel for my sister for 3 months - I bought something every month from my pension, there were dates in the factory packaging, there were figs and dried apricots too. And what do you think I saw when I was going to send the parcel - maggots walked in the packages!

Does anyone really have doubts about whether or not to wash something before eating? Nobody knows. where and how the dried fruits were stored, mice could run around them, crawl bugs and stick to millions of bacteria and fungi during storage.Wash, wash and wash ... the only way to protect yourself and especially children from diseases

Dried fruits during normal drying - wrinkled, dirty gray, with dust and sand! This is when they are soaked from it, treated with oil, glycerin and chemistry so that they do not deteriorate - then they are clean, transparent, no maggots eat them. That is, natural dried fruits need to be washed from dust and sand and you can cook compote. and CHEMICAL BEAUTY NEEDS to be washed in boiling water, rinse off fat and glycerin, and then cook the compote! I just eat both of them from dust and eat, but I have a theory that there should not be sterile products, but immunity should be. I have never been sick from raw milk, unwashed fruits and vegetables (tore off my pants and ate), berries from a bush, dried fruits, raw eggs, meat with blood. Not fried marinated barbecue! Everyone chooses for himself! Someone and the type of chicken droppings vomit!

Just a beautiful glossy appearance of dried fruits suggests that they are processed with chemicals. And not only glycerin, but also more harmful compounds. The softness of dried fruits is also a sign of "chemistry." Real dried fruits must be dry! Unsightly, gray, dry dried fruits are natural. However, sulfur compounds are also used for their drying. Yes, and sanitation is in question. So, all dried fruits - both beautiful and ugly - must be washed! But it’s important to do it right.
Namely, first dried fruit must be washed thoroughly in COLD water. It is even better to soak in it for 20-30 minutes. It is cold water that dissolves sulfur compounds! And then pour over boiling water and rinse in hot water.
