White and other folk remedies against fungus on the walls

If, for some reason, the use of fungicides (special means to combat mold) is not possible, it is worth trying proven approaches. White against the fungus on the walls has been used for a long time and managed to establish itself only on the best side. However, when using the product, you must remember that you need not only to get rid of mold, but also not to harm people living in the apartment. In addition to a chlorine-containing solution, other folk remedies that have no less effectiveness can be used at home.

Rules for applying White

When declaring war on mold, it is first necessary to establish the cause of its appearance. If you just get rid of traces of parasitization of the fungus by regularly cleaning, this will not give the desired result. Even the most effective means, whose action is directed against the active reproduction of a specific microorganism, are temporary. Only after it becomes clear why colorful colonies appear on the walls and appropriate preventive measures are taken, can we begin to eliminate mold traces and the results of its vital activity.

If the fungal colonies cover only small areas and have not yet had time to affect the quality of plaster, wallpaper and other raw materials, we proceed according to the following scheme:

  • Apply White directly to the affected areas. This can be done with a brush, sponge, spray. Pre-dilute the composition is not necessary, a concentrated product will give the best effect.

Tip: If you have to deal with color wallpapers, it is best to first check how White affects their color. In general, chlorine bleaches are best used for treating plaster, tile, wood and stone surfaces. For fabric and paper, it’s better to pick something less aggressive.

  • We leave the areas treated on the walls to dry independently, without using a hair dryer or other sources of artificial heat to speed up the process.
  • As the bleach dries, the mold spots will lighten and then completely disappear, but this does not mean that the fight against the fungal colonies is over.
  • Next, we take a dense brush and begin to carry out the mechanical treatment of the affected areas until we can get rid of the slightest traces of the parasite.

It is worth considering that White has a pungent odor and is aggressive towards surrounding objects. Therefore, the procedure for removing mold on walls, ceilings and furniture is recommended in good ventilation and only with rubber gloves.

Features of handling serious lesions

If the situation is such that it is necessary not only to deal with mold traces on the walls, but the material has lost its original texture and is crumbling, then the approach should be more radical:

  • Contaminated raw materials (plaster, paint, wallpaper, whitewash) must be removed to a clean layer. We process not only areas with traces of fungus, but also go a little to a clean product.
  • Then carefully dry the problem area. To do this, it is best to use open-coil heaters that burn oxygen and reduce air humidity.
  • On the prepared surface we apply a composition against the growth of mold. It may be a folk remedy, but it is better to use industrial fungicide, which can be found in many hardware stores.

  • At the next stage, dry the treated areas again. At the same time, the tool used to combat mold does not need to be washed off, it just needs to stay on the walls and absorb well.
  • After the treatment is completed, we proceed to restore the attractiveness of the walls. If whitewashing, putty or paint is used, then a little disinfectant can also be added to the composition, this will provide reliable prevention of mold return.

Approximately the same actions are shown when working with a tree. True, here it will be more difficult to clean the surface. If you do not cut the affected areas, the problem will return soon.

Other effective folk remedies for mold control

If it is not possible to use White or a ready-made solution to eliminate the fungus, you can consider one of the following options:

  • Copper sulfate. For 10 l of water we take 100 g of copper sulfate and prepare a solution. The resulting composition is treated surface, as well as chlorine bleach. It is worth considering that this option can leave stains on the walls, so it is best used before redecorating.

Copper sulfate, soda powder and vinegar

  • Vinegar. Hard surfaces (stone, tile) can be treated with a solution of undiluted table vinegar. You just need to remember that this product starts to smell even stronger when heated. Therefore, it is not recommended to dry the treated walls with artificial heat sources.
  • Soda with washing powder. This mixture will get rid of mold in the spaces between the tiles. In a glass of hot water, add a tablespoon of baking soda and 2.5 tablespoons of ordinary washing powder. We take a brush, dip into the composition and carefully clean all the problem areas. After this, there is no need to wash off the product, the main thing is to dry the room well.

If superficial or deep processing did not give very pronounced positive results, this indicates the penetration of mold into the structure of the material. Only redecoration, which implies a complete replacement of the wall covering, will help here.
