How often do you need to wash kitchen, bath and other towels?

A towel is the same personal care product as a toothbrush, razor or slippers. It is recommended to change it every year, as the tissue wears out, dries worse, as a result of which bacteria on it actively multiply. And how often do you need to wash towels?

It is clear that things with stains and a bad smell definitely need washing, but it is better not to bring the towel to this state. The frequency of washing depends on what the product is intended for.

Starting from destination

A towel is an indispensable attribute of every home. However, there are many other places where you can not do without it: a bath and a sauna, a swimming pool, a gym, a beach.

Each person should have several individual towels:

  • for face;
  • for hands;
  • for body;
  • for intimate hygiene;
  • for legs.

The recommended frequency of washing for each of them is different.

For face

How much time we devote to face care! We clean, moisturize, nourish and don’t think that all our work can be in vain if you wipe your face with a towel, which is high time to send it to the laundry. A face towel is washed daily, and if the skin is problematic (there are rashes, irritation, hypersensitivity) - it is recommended to wash after each use.

To keep the material soft, soak it in cold water for 3-5 hours before washing.

Hand towels

For hands (in the bathroom and in the kitchen)

Hand towels get dirty the fastest. Experts recommend washing them daily. This applies to both kitchen towels and those that hang in the bathroom.

In the kitchen, towels do not always have time to completely dry and may come in contact with food. We wipe their greasy hands with them - and microorganisms, thus getting on the product, multiply very quickly. After only 1-2 days of use, kitchen textiles start to smell unpleasant and look bad, and hands dried with it definitely require repeated washing.

A hand towel in the bathroom is the only one that can be one for all family members (but only subject to daily replacement!).

Difficult stains on kitchen towels can be removed with citric acid. To do this, pour it on a stain and leave for half an hour, then rinse with warm water. If the spots are old, you can leave the powder for several hours.

For body

The moist environment of the bathroom creates ideal conditions for the growth of bacteria. In order not to contribute to the spread of pathogens, a body towel (bath) must be straightened and dried after each adoption of water procedures.

Subject to these rules, a body towel can be used 3-4 times. This does not apply to infants and people who have caught a cold. For them, a change in personal hygiene products after each use is a prerequisite.

If the house has run out of fabric softener, it is easily replaced by white vinegar. Add 100 ml to the rinse compartment - after washing the laundry will be soft and free of traces of powder.

Intimate hygiene

For intimate hygiene

A towel for intimate hygiene is a purely individual type of product. Such towels should be changed after each use. It is recommended to wash with the addition of an agent with antibacterial or disinfectant components in the composition. Laundry detergent, choose hypoallergenic.

Mixing washing powder with baking soda will help keep the laundry soft by softening hard water.

Foot towel

For legs

If members of the same family do not suffer from foot diseases such as fungal infections of the nails or lichen, one product can be used for everyone. In this case, after all bathe, it must be sent for washing.

Towels are best dry flattened away from batteries and other heat sources. This will help maintain their shape.

Washing tips

The washing mode should be selected based on the manufacturer's recommendations indicated on the label of the textile product, or focusing on the composition.

The optimum temperature for washing towels is 40-50 degrees. Such heating of water is enough to kill bacteria and germs. If there are stubborn stains, you can increase the temperature to 70 degrees.

Do not forget that not only the service life and appearance of the product, but also the health of your family members depends on a competent approach to the issue of washing towels.
