Every woman who considers herself a talented hostess has repeatedly wondered: how to bleach kitchen towels? Always at hand, they take the brunt of it. There are no stains on them: greasy, oily, from tomatoes, chocolate, beets, ketchup, burnt dishes ... Due to frequent washing, even with a successful stain removal operation, the fabric loses its whiteness and looks messy. Today, the hostess has a wide variety of whitening products for industrial production, and older relatives are ready to tell you in paints how bleached kitchen textiles are boiled. Some even have wooden tongs for mixing clothes! But boiling for a modern woman is in most cases unacceptable, and there is an allergy to household chemicals. And even in the case when the hostess regularly uses industrial bleach, there are situations when he simply does not appear at the right time. In this case, you can do with improvised means to help bleach the fabric without resorting to boiling.

Vegetable oil

How to bleach kitchen towels with vegetable oil and other means "from the kitchen"?

The bleaching procedure can be carried out by soaking in solutions prepared on the basis of products that are in every home:

  • vegetable oil;
  • mustard powder;
  • salts;
  • soda;
  • vinegar.

The recipe for whitening with vegetable oil includes the following steps.

  1. Pour 10 liters of hot water into a volumetric basin or bucket.
  2. Dissolve in the water 2 tbsp. l vegetable oil, 2 tbsp. l baking soda, an incomplete glass (meaning a glass with a volume of 250 ml) of washing powder.
  3. Soak the towels in the solution overnight.
  4. Wash them in the morning, as usual, by hand or in a washing machine.

Mustard powder is able to whiten towels at home.

  1. Type in as much hot water as you need to cover the laundry completely.
  2. Dissolve mustard powder in water. For each liter of water, put 2 tbsp. l mustard.
  3. Stir the solution several times to make the mustard better disperse.
  4. Soak things in solution for 3-4 hours.
  5. After the required time, wash the laundry as usual.

In the struggle for crystal whiteness, ordinary table salt will help.

  1. Dissolve salt in water - 1 tbsp. l for 1 liter
  2. Soak in the “pickle” stuff for the night.
  3. Wash in the usual way in the morning.

Baking soda
Baking soda is a universal home care cleaner. It is successfully used for bleaching fabrics.

  1. Dissolve baking soda in water - 1 tbsp. l for 1 liter water. You can also take soda for 1 tbsp. l on each towel.
  2. Soak the laundry in the solution for 4-4.5 hours.
  3. After time, wash your clothes in the most convenient way.

To wash old kitchen towels without boiling, you can soak in vinegar.

  1. Wash your laundry the way you usually do it - manually or with a washing machine.
  2. Soak towels with vinegar. For this purpose, colorless transparent table vinegar is best suited.
  3. Leave them soaked for 15-30 minutes.
  4. Wash the towels again, you can use the washing machine in fast mode. Put a double rinse.

  1. Choose towels that are easy to bleach - the so-called "waffle", cotton or linen.
  2. Change them frequently to prevent dirt stains from becoming obsolete.
  3. Use towels only to wipe hands and utensils. For everything else, there are oven mitts, mittens, paper roll napkins, and similar kitchen appliances. Then you don’t have to wash anything, and the fabric will not lose its snow-white appearance.
  4. After bleaching and washing, iron the towel. It will retain dirt-repellent properties and beautiful appearance for longer.
  5. White towels, although they are considered more easily soiled than colored ones, can be whitened in more ways than to return the whiteness to the background, which shows a colored pattern.

To whiten kitchen towels at home, you can look into the medicine cabinet. Some drugs will come in handy:

  • hydrogen peroxide (3%);
  • ammonia;
  • potassium permanganate (potassium permanganate).

Hydrogen peroxide 3% can be used for bleaching both independently and simultaneously with ammonia to enhance the effect.

  1. Wash kitchen towels.
  2. Heat the water and add 2 tbsp. To it. l hydrogen peroxide and 1 tbsp. l ammonia.

  4. Grind 1/4 of a 72% laundry soap. This can be done with a grater or knife. Dilute the soap in the water to which potassium permanganate has been added.
  5. Soak the laundry in the solution overnight.
  6. Wash your double-rinse towels in the morning.

  • dishwashing detergent;
  • laundry soap 72%.

Grease stains are one of the main problems of kitchen textiles. You can wash them with a dishwashing detergent, which inherently was created to combat fat. Only you should choose a transparent tool so that there is no coloring effect.

  1. Dissolve the dishwashing gel in warm water at the rate of 1 tbsp. l for 3 liters of water.
  2. Soak in a towel solution for half an hour.
  3. Wash them as usual over time. If you wash in a typewriter, then set the double rinse mode. If manually - rinse the towels more carefully than usual.

Laundry soap - an invariable companion of all Soviet housewives - and today serves faithfully in the fight against pollution. The method of whitening with it is simple, but it will take time.

  1. Lather towels thoroughly with laundry soap.
  2. Put them in a dense plastic bag for the night or even for 18 hours (day and night).
  3. As time passes, remove the laundry from the bag and wash with a double rinse.
