How and what can be used to remove vertical fabric blinds

Modern blinds with a vertical arrangement of lamels delight with their practicality and ergonomics. True, all the positive aspects of the devices fade into the background when the question arises of how to erase the blinds and not lower their functionality and attractiveness.

The window zone constantly passes a lot of dust through itself, so these devices have to be washed quite often. It will not be possible to limit only to dry cleaning and processing of lamellas directly on the cornice. At least 1-2 times a year, vertical blinds must be driven away in the washing machine or cleaned manually.

How to clean thick lamellas?

Regardless of what material the vertical fabric lamellas are made of, they must be removed before intensive cleaning. All small parts are cleaned in a separate box and, if necessary, also cleaned by hand.

Dense matter does not respond well to processing in the washing machine, so it’s best to do everything by hand:

1. Pour warm water into the bathtub, add a little washing powder or detergent. If the blinds are colored, then this should be a composition with color preservation properties. White fabric elements may be cleaned with bleach. In the basin, it is not recommended to soak the strip, it is better to use the bathroom, then it will be possible to avoid the formation of creases.
2. After the products get well wet, proceed to the direct effect on the spots. They can be washed with your hands or scrubbed with a brush using detergent (but not laundry soap).
3. If the stains are very persistent, a stain remover is recommended.
4. Next, drain the water, replace it with a clean and rinse lamella. After that, each element must be held under running water so that the detergent is washed cleanly from it.
5. After all cleaning operations, we hang up the vertical parts on the ledge, after assembling the device according to the scheme. Under the window we line several rags or towels on which water will drain. It is forbidden to squeeze or dry the lamellas by throwing them over the rope. Creases are formed on them, which are difficult to eliminate.

Tip: If it is obvious that the dirt has been eaten up tightly and it’s useless to wash individual elements, the damaged areas can simply be replaced. You just need to pick up the plug-in lamellas of the same color. If necessary, they can even be slightly rubbed so that they are ideally combined in color with the rest of the product.

The specificity of the machine wash process of fabric elements

Before you wash the blinds in a typewriter, you should familiarize yourself with the manufacturer's recommendations on this subject. Most often, such an approach is prohibited and in case of damage to the subject, the guarantee no longer applies to it. Despite this attitude of professionals to an aggressive approach, if you act wisely, you can get the desired result with minimal energy costs.

Tip: If the vertical blinds are made of some very delicate, fleecy or just expensive fabric, then it is better to hand over the product to dry cleaning and not risk it, resorting to experiments at home.

In practice, machine washable fabric lamellas are as follows:

1. We set the delicate mode without drying and spinning, at a temperature of no higher than 35ºС. We choose the most mild detergents, without aggressive components.
2. We collect vertical strips of 5-10 pieces (the denser the fabric, the fewer parts), we fold it into a neat roll and put it in laundry bags. They can be replaced by old unnecessary pillowcases.
3. We put the elements in the camera. It should not be jammed to the eyeballs, it is better to divide the process into several approaches.
4. We erase fabric blinds only once. Even if spots or stains remain on the surface, we no longer use the washing machine. If necessary, we carry out additional manual processing of individual elements. If you wash the appliances too often in this way, this will lead to softening of the material and the blinds will lose their original attractive appearance.

We dry vertical stripes of soft fabric on the cornice. If noticeable creases or grooves appear during the treatment, exposure to them with an iron is allowed. True, this is done through a fabric layer, pressing the iron and stretching the element is strictly prohibited.

Features of exposure to jacquard and cotton lamellas

It is highly discouraged to drive away such elements in the washing machine, even traditional hand washing may be too aggressive for them. Despite the fact that cotton, although it does not belong to delicate fabrics, after processing in a typewriter, it can sit down strongly and stretch out the lamellas.

• To wash such capricious materials, each element will have to be folded separately. We place them in a linen bag or container for washing and soak in a warm solution prepared from a mild detergent powder or liquid concentrate.
• After half an hour in the detergent, the bags are removed, the elements are rinsed and inspected. If necessary, the approach is repeated. Rubbing jacquard and cotton is strictly prohibited. Special impregnation that repels dust is quickly washed off from them, and it becomes like shapeless ribbons.
• These materials are not ironed. They are immediately hung out on the ledge, a weight is sure to cling to the bottom, otherwise the fabric will sit down. It is not necessary to act on the blinds with a hairdryer or other artificial heat sources, they themselves will quickly dry out.
