How and how can you wash the white shoelaces and return their color?

Many housewives do not even think about how to wash the white shoelaces, and simply soak them or load them into the machine with shoes. As a result of this approach, the surface of the sneakers is covered with stains, or everything is evenly cleaned, but the laces gradually lose their original color, acquiring a gray tint.

To avoid this, it is recommended to wash the functional elements separately. Moreover, the manipulation should imply not only classical cleaning, but also the bleaching of the material. For this, you can use both ready-made professional tools and no less effective home-made compounds.

Soak products or not?

The answer to this question depends on the degree of contamination of objects. In the event that they are literally covered with dirt, it is better to postpone soaking for later. First, send the shoelaces for one cycle to the washing machine, wrapping them in an unnecessary white pillowcase that will absorb at least part of the dirt and then remove it.

Then we evaluate the result without drying the products. If it is satisfactory, soak the product in one of the bleaching solutions, and then wash it by hand. In the case when the first machine wash did not help, you need to run another one and so on until the desired result is achieved.

If the laces simply lost their original whiteness, they should be soaked in a special bleaching solution before ordinary washing. Choosing the right tool depends on what is currently available.

Effective tools and solutions for cleaning and bleaching shoelaces

At home, white shoelaces can be cleaned and bleached with a variety of effective tools and approaches:

• Before washing products, it is recommended to boil them in white. The main thing here is not to exceed the dosages recommended on the package and not to keep the material in the composition longer than necessary.

Tip: Practice shows that if you don’t be lazy and wash the white shoelaces at least once a week or after every serious pollution, the dirt will not have time to absorb deep into the fiber structure. Products will be washed quickly and without significant effort.

• If dirt literally ate itself into the fibers of the laces and white sneakers create an unfavorable background for them, a more serious effect will be needed. To do this, take refined gasoline, bleach without chlorine, cotton pads and wet towels without perfumes. First, wet the disk in gasoline, process especially problematic places. Then wipe them with wet wipes, removing most of the composition. Next, soak the laces in the bleach (you can replace the stain remover) and wait a quarter of an hour. Next, rinse the elements in cool water and wash in the usual way.
• If white accessories have acquired a gray-yellow hue, you can use a product prepared from vinegar, 3% hydrogen peroxide and washing powder. We combine all of the listed ingredients in equal proportions and carefully knead. It should be a paste of medium liquid. We take a toothbrush with very soft bristles or a sponge for washing dishes and using the selected tool we rub the surface of the laces with the paste obtained. First, you can simply apply the mass to the products and wait five minutes, after which you need to proceed to mechanical cleaning. After the elements are processed along the entire length, they need to be moistened in warm water and washed in a machine.

It is worth considering that the above methods best cope with problems on the laces of free and large weaving. If you have to deal with tight versions of products, then you will have to spend much more time and energy to restore their color.

How to carry out the manipulation?

There are several points, compliance with which will allow you to get the fastest and most positive result by updating the accessories for sneakers:

• If the products are machine washable, then the speed should be minimal, otherwise the laces will quickly disintegrate and lose their original appeal. Drying is not used!
• The temperature can be set to maximum if shiny threads are not stretched through the white elements. In this case, the temperature should not exceed 40 ° C (well, such products cannot be boiled either).

• Do not try to treat the fibers with toothpaste, similar to running shoes. A positive result may please you at first, but particles of the composition will clog between the fibers, begin to attract dirt and very soon the material will become dirtier than before washing. But to restore such shoelaces will be very problematic.
• It is necessary not only to be able to clean the laces, but also to properly care for them. Even if the elements are clean, but wet, they need not only to be dried, but previously washed. And for drying it is better to choose fresh air, and not heating devices (from them the fibers begin to turn yellow).
• If the shoelaces have only gotten dirty and have not yet had time to dry, then you just need to wash them manually using soap (laundry or Antipyatin). Be sure to rinse after this product in cool water until the foam is completely washed out.

And yet, even after such troublesome and lengthy manipulations, a positive result is not guaranteed. If it is not possible to regularly wash the shoelaces for preventive purposes, it is better to purchase a few pairs in advance and change them regularly. This is not as costly as it seems from a financial point of view, and sneakers will always look like new.
