How to wash microfiber products: the fabric has its own secrets

Microfiber products are soft, durable, quickly absorb moisture, do not leave stains on surfaces and are easily rinsed out. However, any fabric accumulates dust and dirt over time. How to wash microfiber? She calmly transfers both hand and machine wash, the only thing to consider is the temperature of the water.

What is this fabric and what is it afraid of

Microfiber is woven from the finest fiber - polyester, polyamide or nylon. It produces bedding, towels, cleaning equipment, furniture, glasses napkins and car seats.

Synthetics does not tolerate hot water, ironing, bleaching and aggressive detergents. Strongly twisting during the spin is also not recommended, although the material is resistant to deformation. The fabric does not like the effects of the linen conditioner, because of it it loses its unique properties.

For information
Due to improper care, microfiber does not tear and does not lose its properties instantly, but it wears out much faster. If you wash the products correctly, they will last several years.

Manufacturers usually indicate on the label how to care for the material, whether it can be machine washed or it is recommended to get rid of dirt manually. There is also information about the temperature regime.

Handwash

It will not be difficult to get rid of stains without a washing machine: all dirt from microfiber can be easily removed with soap and powder.

Hand wash microfiber

Basic rules for washing:

  • put the product in warm water, the temperature of which should not be higher than 50 degrees;
  • boiling is unacceptable: microfibre deformation occurs, the towel becomes unusable;
  • use laundry soap, non-aggressive washing powder, liquid detergent;
  • pre-soak heavily soiled kitchen and floor rags for 1 hour;
  • no need to grate the material much, stains are easily removed under the influence of detergents;
  • rinse things only in clean water, without air conditioning;
  • dry synthetics in a room or on the street away from colored linen: although microfiber itself does not fade, but it quickly absorbs paint.

Tip
It is better to use a powder with a pH of less than 10 units.

In the washing machine

If there is no time or desire to soak and wash microfiber manually, you can use the automatic machine.

machine wash

The recommendations here are:

  1. Since the fabric is bulky, the drum is loaded onto ¾.
  2. Washing is done in a delicate mode: too intense rotation damages the fibers.
  3. No need to put too much powder, just fill the compartment as for a normal cycle.
  4. Wash microfiber wipes separately from other things, as fibers and hairs can collect on their surface.
  5. The temperature regime is 40-50 degrees.
  6. Do not squeeze microfiber in the washing machine, it is better to get rid of moisture manually.

Important
When choosing microfiber washing powder, make sure that there are no bleaching particles or conditioner in it.

If the product is very dirty

In this case, prolonged soaking is applied for 10-12 hours. In water, you need to dissolve the detergent and immerse things in it, then rinse thoroughly. If it was not possible to remove the towel the first time, it is re-soaped and rinsed.

To put in order a kitchen rag, it can be pre-treated with a paste of soda and water and immersed in a soap solution for an hour, then rinsed thoroughly in water.

Dirty rags

Another way that the housewives are familiar with is using lemon juice as a stain remover. The recipe is this: juice from half the fruit is squeezed into a basin with 5-7 liters of warm water and immersed in a cloth for a couple of hours. If the dirt is deeply absorbed into the fibers, it is allowed to squeeze a whole lemon, then wash in the usual way.

To remove stains, you can use "Vanish", which delicately refers to the tissues. The drug should be diluted according to the instructions, usually a contaminated napkin is kept in solution for half an hour.

Drying and ironing rules

It is recommended to keep microfiber away from hot appliances, radiators. Otherwise, bends and creases appear on the fabric, which cannot be removed. In extreme cases, a hairdryer is allowed at a minimum temperature.

Ironing

Synthetic fiber perfectly tolerates direct sunlight and dries in a few hours due to its porous structure.

How to iron products? Since the material practically does not crease, it does not need to be ironed. Conversely, heating microfiber spoils the fibers. If the product is too wrinkled, it should be carefully straightened and dried in a wet form on a flat surface.

If bed linen is made of material and you want to give it a perfect look, you can try to iron it through a cotton napkin.

Tip
Before ironing the whole thing, iron a small piece of cloth. If he has lost his form, it is better not to risk it.

Microfiber fabric

A few recommendations:

  1. Wash microfiber in an automatic machine only as a last resort, products are well cleaned by hand.
  2. Rags and towels will last longer if they are soaped and rinsed daily.
  3. To remove stains on microfiber furniture, it is wiped with a soap solution in a circular motion, left to dry and additionally pass with a brush.

Microfiber is a universal durable material, and proper washing only increases its service life.
