How to wash clothes from polyester in the car and manually?

It is important for everyone who has synthetic clothes in their closet to have an idea of how to wash polyester correctly so that your favorite clothes look as new as possible. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for a favorite item to sit or molt after washing. Where to start in order to prevent mistakes?

Polyester stuff label

Forewarned - armed

In order not to be mistaken, choosing a washing method, temperature and cleaning agent, it is important to carefully study the label or tag sewn from the wrong side of the thing. As a rule, all necessary information on product care is indicated there.

It is worth paying attention to three main characteristics:

  1. fabric structure;
  2. recommended method of washing;
  3. temperature.

Most often, just by looking at the label, you can accurately determine that the product is made of polyester, since things from this fabric sometimes have different fiber densities and even feel differently to the touch. Many factors can influence this, for example, the composition of the tissue. It can either be 100 percent polyester or include the addition of natural fibers, such as linen or cotton. If things are made of combined fabrics, you can use a simple rule: if the percentage of polyester in the product is higher (in most cases), you should wash it in the same way as pure polyester, if the percentage of another type of fiber is higher, then vice versa. But this is in case if there is no washing instruction on the label.

Most often they are. For example, it usually indicates which cleaning method is acceptable or not acceptable for a thing. The crossed out basin icon generally prohibits washing the product. In this case, you will have to limit yourself to gentle dry cleaning or hand over the thing for cleaning, so that specialists work with it.
Hand wash
Fortunately, most often polyester can be washed both manually and in a washing machine. In the first case, the optimal temperature will be 30-40 degrees. In some cases (usually indicated on the label) washing is also possible at 60 degrees. But you need to remember that polyester does not like high temperatures, at which it is easily deformed.

As for the means, then you can use ordinary washing powder, dissolved in warm water. Heavily contaminated places can be pre-treated with bile soap - after this, the thing is better washed out.

Tip

Laundry detergent can be from any manufacturer, but the main thing is that it is suitable - for color or white, depending on the color of the product.
It is better not to mix white and color, even if you think that they do not shed.

Machine wash

We use a washing machine

Washing in a washing machine generally greatly simplifies the process. The main thing is to set the desired temperature and the appropriate mode. If the product is not very dirty, then you can wash it in quick mode. If you need more thorough cleaning, then you need to set the mode "Delicate wash" or "For delicate fabrics." In some models of automatic machines there is a “Hand Wash” mode, which is also suitable for polyester. Of the funds, you can add washing powder and, if necessary, stain remover.

Important!

The stain remover must be suitable for all types of fabric so as not to damage the product.

Washing polyester outerwear

Outerwear

Polyester jackets are washed in the same way as described above, being guided by the instructions in the label. Before washing, you need to fasten (after checking) all pockets and locks and wash in a gentle mode, with a maximum temperature of 40 degrees. After washing, the jacket needs to be carefully straightened on its shoulders and allowed to drain in the bathroom. The same principle applies to down jackets.

Washing a down jacket with synthetic insulation is similar to washing a jacket. It is best to use liquid products like Laska, because the powdered ones are poorly washed out of the down jacket insulation, even when thoroughly washed in a washing machine.

If the down jacket with natural insulation - down or feather - then it is much more difficult, because such insulation has the properties, getting wet, stray into uneven lumps. This can be prevented by throwing a couple of tennis balls into the car, but it is better not to experiment and hand over the down jacket for dry cleaning.

Carefully following the instructions on the label and our recommendations on how to wash polyester, you will do everything right and the wash will go without any problems.
