How to wash Roman curtains?

Modern hearth keepers want to keep up to date and use designer products in the home interior. But then the question arises: how to wash Roman curtains - such a seemingly simple and unpretentious, but at the same time complex design object?

Preparatory stage

First of all, you need to determine what material the curtains are made of. The rules for the care of different materials will vary.

1. Natural fibers - jute, bamboo, palm core fibers. Such materials from contact with water only deteriorate. Therefore, such curtains are cleaned with a dry cloth or with a vacuum cleaner, without removing from the guides. In the latter case, the brush should be wrapped with wet gauze.
2. Fabric curtains are washed in the washing machine or manually using standard detergents.

Water procedures: what to look for?

The Roman curtain is a whole system of struts, special cords and holders. It is thanks to them that the product can be controlled, they create a characteristic shape and design appearance.

The procedure for manipulation must be strictly observed.

1. Remove the curtain from the window.
2. Remove all rails and guides. This is done quite simply. The slats are attached either with the help of special adhesive tapes or installed in fabric folds-grooves. In this case, one of the edges of the groove remains loose and it will not be difficult to remove the guide.
3. Soak the canvas in warm water. Add detergent to the container. Do not use bleaches, especially chlorine based. All these manipulations will allow to remove spots as much as possible with a minimum of mechanical load on the fabric.

   Water should be just warm. High temperatures can cause the product to warp.

4. How to wash Roman curtains - with your hands and in the car - each mistress decides independently. Hand wash is preferable. But even in this case, do not apply excessive mechanical forces. Try to rub the fabric with a soft brush in one direction.

After washing, do not wring the product. Walk your entire length with your hands to remove excess water. Dry in a straightened state.

Cleaning service specialists do not recommend ironing the Roman blind. It is enough to insert the guides until the product is completely dry. The curtain will smooth out on its own.

How to wash Roman curtains in a washing machine?

When choosing this method, the following rules must also be observed.

1. Remove the guides and soak for 1 hour in warm water.
2. For washing, place the cloth in a special bag or net.
3. The wash mode is either “for delicate fabrics” or “hand wash”. Water temperature is from 30 to 40 degrees.
4. Spin mode - minimum, no more than 500 revolutions per minute. It is advisable not to wring the product at all.
5. Remove clean curtains from the washing machine and walk the entire length with your hands. This will remove excess water. Dry in a straightened state.
6. Install the guides in a slightly damp product.
7. If you used mechanical extraction, you should not dry the product. Immediately insert the slats and secure the curtain in the window opening.

Some more useful tips

1. Do not use stain removers. With noticeable spots, the best choice is a professional dry cleaning service.
2. Velvet products must be dried. They are not mounted on rails in the wet state. Such curtains should be dried only in a horizontal position. Do not wring!
3. Silk products are washed both by hand and in a washing machine. It is strictly forbidden to squeeze!
4. Do not remove small stains with soapy water.This helps to wash out the color and burnout of these areas in the sun.
