Can I wash adult and children's jeans with air conditioning?

In fact, you can wash denim with air conditioning if it is “classic” without impregnation. In this case, the rinse aid will retain its color, give a pleasant aroma, facilitate ironing and give the material a ton of other properties. It’s a pity that not all jeans are shown and can sometimes do harm.

Stretch jeans

What jeans do not like air conditioning?

Classic jeans are made of cotton material, they are coarse, tight, well-kept shape. Rinsing in emollients will definitely not hurt such things. But they have recently become a rarity. Often in the fabric there are additional fibers that deteriorate from rinsing agents.

What materials cannot be washed with air conditioning?

  • Fabrics with elastane. Often this material is present in jeans, provides stretching, stretch effect. Rinse aid molecules clog the fibers, they lose their properties - things stop shrinking, do not take their original shape and size.
  • Impregnated fabrics (moisture resistant, fireproof). The conditioner dissolves the compounds used, the thing loses its properties faster.
  • Warm jeans with fleece and fleece. Terry and fleecy fabrics are smoothed, covered with a protective layer, cease to absorb moisture, sweat, their heat-insulating properties are reduced.

The surest way not to make a mistake when washing is to look at the sewn-in or attached label. Usually it indicates not only the names of the fibers, but also their ratio. We do not take into account cheap Chinese clothes, for which often the data on the label does not correspond to the materials.

Using an air conditioner when washing in a machine

Why wash jeans with air conditioning?

Some people, especially the older generation, consider the use of air conditioners a waste of money and time. This is actually not the case. The tool improves the appearance and quality of the fabric. If it was invented, then why not use it?

What gives air conditioning?

  • It makes the material softer.
  • Facilitates ironing.
  • Refreshes the color.
  • Improves aroma.

Rinsing with additives increases wear resistance, the thing lasts longer, looks better, retains its shape. The conditioner smoothes out the fine fibers, which before this ruffles and raises the detergent. Thanks to this, the thing gets dirty less, the number of washings is reduced, jeans do not rub during friction.

Fabric softeners are not such a novelty. For rinsing, additives were used before, but they were of natural origin: vinegar solution, infusions of citrus peels, decoctions of herbs.

Features of hand and machine wash denim

If the jeans are machine washable, the air conditioner is added to a special compartment. The required amount should be found in the instructions on the product packaging.

There are no tricks. It is important not to confuse, do not add the product to the detergent compartment. In this case, the air conditioner, when the drum rotates, repeatedly changes the water, will simply go into the sewer and will not affect the material.

If washing is carried out manually in a basin, then powder or soap dissolves in the first water, and jeans must be rinsed in the second water from a detergent (this step is often skipped). And only then immerse wrung and rinsed jeans in a solution with air conditioning. You can leave for a while, so that the fabric is saturated. After that, squeeze, shake, send to dry.

Children's jeans

A few words about children's jeans

Children's clothing made of denim and coarse denim is not only possible, but also needs to be washed with emollients: they will improve tactile sensations, things will not rub the baby’s delicate skin. Another question is the choice of chemistry. Do not use air conditioning for adult clothing with a variety of (albeit pleasant) fragrances.

What to look for:

  • you need to choose a tool for children's clothing;
  • it should not have a strong odor;
  • the packaging should be marked “hypoallergenic”.

It is also recommended to give preference to products without dyes in the composition - they are usually transparent or milky.

Do no harm!

Air conditioning requires dosage. It's like with a hair balm: you apply a little - there is no effect, you smear a lot - instead of a luxurious and well-groomed hair, tow comes out. Clogged fabric gets dirty faster, becomes stiff, the skin in such jeans sweats, does not breathe, the material rubs.

It is also worth paying attention to concentrates. They are added to the machine or to the basin for rinsing jeans (and other clothes) in much smaller quantities, they are economically consumed, and at the same time they do not require preliminary dilution with water. Do not pour a standard cap; usually you need four times less concentrate.

So, not all jeans should be washed with air conditioning: for some fabrics, this product can do harm. See the composition on the label and choose a washing method depending on the composition.
