Oh, those girlish joys that are impossible to resist! In the morning you are a serious accountant, and in the evening, after work, you yourself carried your legs in the direction of the fashionable “fair of masters” ... And now, for a good half hour, you choose a fragrant handmade soap for yourself. There is berry, milk, honey-oat, even with a slice of grapefruit inside! How can I get away empty-handed? The scenario is usually this: you pick up all sorts of different things, but at home you have to decide which bins to put out this fragrant madness. Is it worth it to store such soap in the refrigerator or do the “edible” components not affect the shelf life?

The answer is simple: you should not keep soap in the refrigerator, even if the composition contains milk or something else from a standard grocery set.

Why can't soap be refrigerated?

If we are talking about ordinary soap in industrial production, then everything is obvious: he has nothing to do in the refrigerator, because it is already perfectly stored. Some soap bars left in reserve are quite capable of surviving any refrigerator.

Handmade soap is not so simple. Craftswomen try to add a maximum of natural components to it - sometimes their number is simply beyond the reasonable. Of course, such a masterpiece has a limited shelf life - from 4 to 8 months.

It would seem that keeping homemade soap in the refrigerator is the most sensible option. But no. There it will certainly “fog up” - drops of oil, glycerin and the most common condensate will appear on the surface. And it doesn’t matter if you removed the packaging beforehand or, conversely, wrapped a bar in a plastic wrap: the temperature and humidity differences will do the trick.

What to do if the soap is already "crying" from the cold? Can i use it?

Of course you can. It is only necessary to dry at room temperature, leaving it on a sheet of paper somewhere in a dark corner until the droplets disappear. The second time it’s better not to repeat this trick: the separation of the components affects the quality of the soap. The smell, color, degree of transparency and, most importantly, the effect on the skin can change.

Where is the best place to store soap?

Rule one - Any soap should be stored at room temperature. With the fulfillment of this condition, problems should not arise.

Second rule - humidity should not be extremely low, otherwise the soap bar will dry out and crack. Of course, this will not happen immediately, but if you miss the deformation from view, using such soap will be unpleasant.

There are several conditions that apply to handmade soap:

• If you still do not plan to use the soap, you need to store it wrapped in cling film. A regular plastic bag will not work.
• For prolonged storage, rooms with high humidity are not suitable. Therefore, if the soap has taken its rightful place in the bathroom, you should try to use it in the next month and a half.
• In no case do not leave the “craft” soap in a soap dish with water - it does not hold its shape as well as industrial, and immediately turns into jelly.
• Keep away from direct sunlight. Better - in a dark cabinet.

So, keeping soap in the refrigerator is an irrational undertaking. If in the near future you do not plan to use it, put it better in a cabinet or dresser with clothes - it will give things a pleasant aroma and will not lose its properties ahead of time.
