It is difficult to underestimate the benefits of industrial climate control devices designed to increase the level of humidity in a living room. Unfortunately, just buying a device and enjoying the benefits of civilization will not work, you will have to at least familiarize yourself with the methods of how to clean a humidifier from limescale.

Failure to carry out preventive and recovery procedures is fraught with serious problems, the least of which will be a decrease in the performance of the device. Of course, you can turn to a professional who will do everything right and quickly, but in this case you will have to pay out at least a third of the amount already paid for household appliances.

Causes and consequences of climate technology pollution

Today, the market for household appliances is full of humidifiers of various kinds. The type of their work affects not only the state of the air and its physical indicators, but also causes the development of specific problems:

1. Steam installation. In the process of generating steam, which mixes with air, there is an active separation of salt molecules from particles suspended in the atmosphere. They settle on the inner walls and elements of the device, causing the formation of scale. As the calcareous layer is compacted, the thermal conductivity of the device decreases, which affects the quality of its work. After some time, the device fails.

Tip: To avoid such consequences, it is worth taking a closer look at devices in which the evaporation of liquid does not occur during the boiling process, but already at room temperature.

2. Ultrasonic humidifier. Through the action of ultrasound, the surface of the water emits moist dust, the particles of which are so small that they take on the form of a cool fog. While water molecules are mixed with air components, salts are disconnected, settling on various horizontal and vertical surfaces. The whitish coating does not look very aesthetically pleasing and creates problems during the cleaning process. After some time, it begins to appear on the internal parts of the humidifier.
3. The traditional mechanical device. In this case, the main load falls on the moistened cartridge, which is covered with salt deposits as a result of constant filtration of hard water. In addition, these devices are characterized by stagnation of water in the tank, which leads to the active reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms and the appearance of a putrefactive odor from the installation.
4. Integrated air wash. In this case, you can encounter all of these problems - from limescale to whitish deposits. Such structures are quite difficult to wash and clean, but you need to do this regularly.

The frequency of processing of functional products will be noticeably reduced if filtered or distilled water is poured into their tanks, filters are regularly inspected and replaced, and fluid used is replaced more often. At the same time, it is forbidden to run the device at full power without the need and remove calcareous growths with sharp objects.

How to properly descale the humidifier or sink?

Elimination of dirt, scale or plaque may differ in certain specifics depending on the model of the humidifier, but the basic recommendations are the same everywhere:

• First, the apparatus must be de-energized, freed of liquid and, if possible, disassemble into components.
• The main container is washed in warm water with a soft cloth. Standard household chemicals are not used in this case, because their residues are very difficult to wash, and they will begin to get into the air when the device is connected.
• If such an effect does not give the desired result, you will have to use specialized preparations recommended by the manufacturers of the moisturizers themselves. In extreme cases, the use of citric acid or soda is allowed, but no aggressive pastes and abrasives with large particles.
• The case can be wiped with a very weak solution of vinegar, this will reduce the amount of dust sitting on the product.

If after such manipulations on some parts of the tank there are traces of plaque or scale, it is better to consult a specialist. Such a dense lime layer is able to quickly disable the device, so in some cases it is necessary to replace the functional elements.

How to disinfect the device?

Simultaneously with the cleaning, it is recommended to carry out several manipulations aimed at eliminating microbes on the walls and elements of the humidifier. Neglecting this step increases the risk of allergies, fungal and infectious diseases in residents of the house.

The required result is achieved by one of the following actions:

• Cleaning bleach. We fill the working capacity with cool water, add a teaspoon of chlorine bleach to it and leave it for about an hour. After this, pour the composition and carefully rinse all the elements with which the product was in contact. If the humidifier is impressive in size, then the exposure time is recommended to be increased by half an hour, the concentration of the product does not change.
• Peroxide cleaning. All internal elements of the device are filled with 3% peroxide. It is not necessary to add water, such an effect will be enough. After an hour, wash off the liquid, carefully rinse the container
• Vinegar cleaning. We carry out the procedure only in the fresh air. Pour a glass of vinegar into the appliance tank and add water to a standard level. We start the unit in standard mode and hold it for at least an hour. After the specified time, wash off the liquid, and wash the product with plenty of water.

Operation of the humidifier will not cause unpleasant moments if you subject it to comprehensive cleaning at least once a week. Under the condition of constant use of the drug, these measures should be carried out even more often, about once every three days.
