How to and how not to use an air humidifier in the apartment

The problem of dry air is relevant for most Russian families, especially in the heating season, when the humidity in the apartment does not exceed 20% (at a rate of 40-60%). To create a useful and comfortable microclimate, doctors urge you to use a humidifier. We suggest finding out how to do this correctly, depending on the type of equipment.

General rules

There are different types of humidifiers. To understand how to use a particular device correctly, you need to study the instructions that come with it. Manufacturers always put it in a box. If the book somehow was not at hand, we recommend that you study a number of rules common to all humidifiers.

Security measures:

• Read the enclosed instructions before operating.
• Use the appliance only in residential areas with dry air and appropriate specifications.
• The humidifier must not be used in a room in which flammable gaseous substances are stored.
• Switch on the device exclusively when assembled and in good condition.
• Do not block the openings, especially where the unit draws air.
• The outlet should be directed into the free space - in no case at a wall, furniture or flowers.
• Do not leave small children alone with the humidifier or place it in an inaccessible place.

• The water tank should be cleaned once every 2 weeks, moisturizing discs - once a month.
• If the device is not to be used for a long time, the water tank should be completely emptied and the humidifier dried. To maintain the tightness of the seal, the plug from the water tank is recommended to be removed. Store the device in its original packaging in a cool, dry room.

Types of Humidifiers

Humidity control in the apartment can be carried out in various ways, from wet towels hung on the battery to the application of special equipment.

Humidifiers are divided into 4 types and differ in the principle of operation:

1. Traditional. Humidifies air with the help of a quickly rotating disk. Moisture passes through it - and fog forms, which is carried around the room by a fan built into the device. Irrigation of air occurs naturally. The steam output is cold.
2. Ultrasonic. The conversion of water to a vapor cloud occurs through sound vibrations. The role of the evaporator is played by a special membrane capable of high-frequency vibration. Steam (cold) is distributed around the room with the same fan.
3. Steam. To moisten the room, a heating element is used. First, the water is brought to a boil, and then hot steam is circulated around by a fan.
4. Air wash. The only device that takes air from the room. It passes it through adsorbing disks and water, and then it is already cleaned and moistened and sprayed out.

Instructions for use:

1. Place a filter in the water pan. Attach the bottom and install the housing.
2. Fill the water tank. Close the cover.

If you place the device near a heat source or places of active air circulation (window, doors), humidification will occur more intensively.

5. Select a mode and adjust the desired humidity. As soon as the humidity level in the room reaches the specified, the humidifier will turn off.

Steam humidifiers

Steam humidifiers represent:

Using such devices is very simple:

1. Fill the tank with water, focusing on the level indicator. Close tight.
2. Press the power button and select an operating mode. The lamp on the device lights up in green.

Until the water evaporates, the humidifier will work. Then it will automatically turn off and the light will turn red.

Steam models easily humidify the air. Therefore, it is advisable to use a hygrometer for monitoring.

1. Place the unit on a firm, level surface.
